Building Connections: My First Steps into Campus Life
Yuniq - My perspective on life
In September, 2023, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the vibrant community at ASU by exploring one of its many clubs. ASU offers a vast array of groups, each with its own unique niche, providing countless ways to connect and engage with fellow students. After thoughtfully selecting a club that aligned with my interests, I attended a meeting to experience its dynamic firsthand. Here's my perspective on the event and the insights I gained:
On September 12, 2023, from 2 pm to 3 pm, I attended an event at ASU that left a lasting impression on me. This gathering, which attracted around 50 attendees, was organized for international students, making it a fantastic opportunity for newcomers like me to connect and build a sense of community within the university. The primary agenda for the meeting was to provide a platform for international students to get to know each other and engage in general chit-chat.
As an international student from India, this event held particular significance for me. It was a wonderful experience meeting people from all over the world, each bringing their unique cultural backgrounds and experiences to the table. I had the opportunity to strike up conversations with fellow students, sharing stories about our respective countries, our academic pursuits, and our initial experiences at ASU. This exchange of ideas and cultures was truly enriching and helped create a warm and inclusive atmosphere.
Regarding my thoughts on the club and its activities, I found this initial gathering to be a positive experience. It served as a valuable icebreaker and allowed me to expand my social network at ASU. The club's emphasis on fostering connections among international students aligns perfectly with my desire to embrace diversity and build a supportive community away from home. While I haven't made a final decision yet, I'm inclined to continue attending these events in the future. The prospect of making more friends and further immersing myself in the vibrant cultural tapestry of ASU is highly appealing.
In conclusion, the international student event on September 12 was a fantastic introduction to ASU's diverse and inclusive community. The number of attendees ensured a lively atmosphere, and the simple agenda of casual interaction allowed for genuine connections to form. I look forward to exploring this club further and continuing to engage with my fellow international students as we embark on this exciting academic journey together.
