Framing Yourself in Digital Culture
Yuniq - My perspective on life
Reflect on a personal experience in about 200-400 words that illustrates how a digital culture artifact has influenced your perspective, self-image, or expectations regarding your life. Alongside your narrative, utilize image editing software to create a visual representation that conveys the impact of this artifact on your life. You can choose to create a collage, remix various images into a new composition, make a drawing, or capture and edit a photograph to express this transformation.
Browsing, through Instagram has become a part of my routine—a window to the world that both inspires and messes with your mind. My journey into the realm of Instagram started off. I used to post pictures of my adventures thinking it was a fun way to share glimpses of life.
Little did I know Instagram had its agenda. The platform subtly whispered, "Compare yourself to this lifestyle " bombarding me with images of filtered perfection. Suddenly my behind the scenes work on YouTube videos and late night coding sessions felt inadequate when compared to influencers seated in a coffee shop, effortlessly worked on their endeavors.
The pressure to meet expectations hit me hard. Instant messaging, which used to connect us now fueled a race for validation through likes and comments. If my post didn't receive the desired engagement it felt like a failure.
Instagram turned into a reflection that distorted reality like a funhouse mirror as I scrolled through it. The line between experiences and curated narratives became blurred. I found myself questioning not just my online persona but also my offline existence.
But hey every digital culture phenomenon has another side too. Despite its drawbacks Instagram became an outlet for self expression—a canvas, for showcasing who I truly am. I've discovered how to strike a balance, between being genuine and the temptation of using filters. It has motivated me to redefine what success means beyond social media metrics.
Now as someone who enjoys video editing and coding I'm sharing my unfiltered journey through life—the ups, the downs and all the exciting moments. Because, in this world embracing imperfections is truly rebellious.
